Normont Families,
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year at Normont Elementary and our Dual Language Program! I hope your family was able to find moments of rest, joy, and connection over the summer. I also recognize that for some in our community, this break may have brought uncertainty or anxiety.
Please know that Normont is a safe, supportive, and inclusive school for all families. We remain committed to creating a welcoming environment where every child feels secure, valued, and ready to learn. Our focus this year remains on academic growth, student voice, and building a community where kindness, respect, and empathy are at the heart of everything we do.
As we step into the new school year, I’m filled with hope and determination for what we will accomplish together as a school community.
At Normont, we remain committed to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching learning environment where every student can thrive. Our dedicated teachers and staff are focused on delivering a high-quality education and empowering students to reach their fullest potential.
This year, we will continue to strengthen instruction by increasing academic discourse, enhancing student participation, and deepening alignment with the standards. Teachers will use small group instruction to meet individual student needs, and students will participate in data chats to better understand their progress and set goals for growth. We are also emphasizing writing across all content areas to build strong thinkers and communicators.
As part of our instructional focus, students will be encouraged to reflect daily by asking:
- What am I learning today?
- How will I know I’ve learned it?
As we begin this school year, I encourage you to stay involved and engaged in your child's education. Your participation and support are vital to our success.
Communication is key to a successful school experience, and I encourage you to connect with your child’s teacher via Class Dojo during the first week of school and throughout the year. To streamline communication and reduce paper waste, Normont will continue with its paperless approach for the 2025-26 school year.. Most school communications, including flyers, announcements, important updates, incentives, and special events will be sent electronically through email, text messages, Schoology, social media, and Class Dojo, and Normont’s website. Please ensure your contact information is up to date so you don’t miss any important information.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let's make this year a memorable and successful one for our entire Normont community.
